A Long Night’s Journey into a Wonderful Day

We watched the Yankee game on tv last night. (It looks like Derek is ready for another October. Then again, when is that boy never ready for October?) That was fun. Then we stayed up late to watch Bwana on the David Letterman show.

OK, we’re biased, but they sure didn’t give him much time. That unrepentant Addict Guy was on for what seemed like forever. Then they had Bwana on-and-off so fast that by the time Teapot came back from the kitchen it was already over. (And boy, was she steaming after that!) Then that musical group came on. They were pretty ickie, plus they scared the dickens out of Toaster. My bad; I should have changed the channel as soon as they came on. Their set design and the weird outfits were a big hint that they are more into affectation than musicality. Dave should have just played a tape of an old Zevon performance.

Toaster had nightmares, which was tough on all of us. But we were greeted this morning by quite a surprise. Jon Stewart’s coffee machine sent over a New York Mets Authentic Fitted Road Cap for Toaster. How sweet! Of course, Jon’s a big Mets fan and his whole household is deck out in The Orange and Blue. It’s going to be neat-o if Jon’s Mets and Bwana’s Yankees meet in the World Series this year.

We’ve got the Dodgers-Mets game on now. John Maine stepped up and kept us in it early. (Well, John plus the Dodgers’ base-running IQ, or lack thereof. I’ll bet Lasorda had a cow over that play.) Carlos B. got us on the board and Cliff added another. We’re into BullpenMode now. Not exactly in the catbird seat, but we’re looking good.

Let’s Go Mets!

Meet the Mets

Meet the Mets, meet the Mets,
Step right up and greet the Mets.
Bring your kiddies, bring your wife,
Guaranteed to have the time of your life.
Because the Mets are really sockin’ the ball,
Knockin’ those home runs over the wall.
East side, West side, everybody’s coming down,
To meet the M-E-T-S Mets, of New York town.

Oh, the butcher and the baker and the people on the streets,
Where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
Oh, they’re hollerin’ and cheerin’ and they’re jumpin’ in their seats,
Where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
All the fans are true to the orange and blue,
So hurry up and come on down –
‘cause we’ve got ourselves a ball club,
The Mets of New York town!

Give ‘em a yell! Give ‘em a hand!
And let ‘em know your rootin’ in the stands!
Come on and…

Meet the Mets, meet the Mets,
Step right up and greet the Mets.
Bring your kiddies, bring your wife,
Guaranteed to have the time of your life.
Because the Mets are really sockin’ the ball,
Knockin’ those homeruns over the wall.
East side, West side, everybody’s coming down,
To meet the M-E-T-S Mets,
Of New York town,
Of New York town.

Aw, Toaster looks so adorable in his Mets cap. Did he pass on his BoSox cap to Mailbox? So, KO retrieves his toast through the hole at the back of the cap? Makes for creased toast, I would think. A small price to pay.
