Candelabra called Grammie and told her how badly Toaster was taking the Mets’ defeat in Game 7 against the Cards. Grammie knew exactly what to do. She leapt into action and brought Mr. Met over to talk to Toaster.

They had a nice tete-a-tete. Mr. Met reassured Toaster that the Mets had a great season, a very good post-season, and are poised to be very competitive next season and into the future. Toaster was so happy that he made toast for Grammie and Mr. Met. (They buttered it on the near side.)

Toaster asked Mr. Met if it would be OK for him to cheer for the Tiggers in the World Series. Mr. Met thought about it for a bit, and then said it would be OK. (I could tell Grammie was not happy about this, but she did not say anything.) Toaster promised that even though he would cheer for the Tiggers in the Series the Mets are still #1 in his heart.

chinese-take-out.jpgThen we all had some swell Chinese take-out. Toaster’s fortune cookie fortune read “Your heart is pure, and your mind clear, and your soul devout.” Which is very true. Grammie got a good fortune, too: “You have an ability to sense and know a higher truth.” Mr. Met’s fortune is, we hope, a message for the 2007 season: “Through greater effort and hard work a precious dream comes true.”

My fortune was “You or a close friend will be married within a year.” I wonder if I should tell Bwana about this ….
