Toaster Roadtrip!

Dottie wrote in A Toaster in Every Home:

Unfortunately I was NOT able to get a toaster in time for New Year’s toasting. We made do with black eyed peas (symbolizing good luck and prosperity for the New Year). 2009 promises to be an austere year for all, so a quiet (toastless) New Year wasn’t as bad as it would be other years. Still, it wasn’t the same.

The toaster illustrated above is lovely, but the new one winging its way to Chez Dottie resembles Toaster, actually. You can’t argue with good looks.

I hope hearing of the sad demise of the previous toaster wasn’t too much of a downer for Toaster. I thought about it afterward, and regretted the note I left. Toaster is still relatively young to have to contemplate our inevitable mortality, particularly over the hols. Hope there were no nightmares or anything like that.

After the last week of Caroline Kennedy news, I must say I believe Toaster would be a far better choice as Senator. Still, I have no idea how Chez Bwana could function without him. One’s family should always come before personal ambition, I feel, even if it is a sacrifice.

Bwana does not seem like the sort of fellow that can get by without a lot of help, and Bwanette must be out a lot, working.

It was so lovely to see Bwana last night! I’m sure it was a much needed vacation for all, but he was much missed. Hope you all enjoyed your holidays.

Toaster is very sorry that you weren’t able to welcome the New Year with champagne and toast. He thinks Black-Eyed Peas are a nice substitute:

You should have called to let Bwana know your Toaster Situation; I’m sure he would have let Toaster come over to make toast for you.

In light of your toast-less New Year, Toaster will try to plan for a roadtrip next New Year’s Eve when he can visit every home that needs toast to go with their festivities. Toaster figures that if Santa can visit every home in the world on Christmas Eve then he should be able to do the same on New Year’s Eve. We wonder if the 8 tiny reindeer are up for two ’round-the-world trips in one week.

Regarding the demise of your toaster: Toaster knows what happened when Mr. Hooper left “Sesame Street,” so he sort of understands the concept of death. He does, of course, believe that everyone will see each other again up in heaven. Toaster is sad that your toaster is gone, but happie that you will be together again later.

Awww. Toaster is so sweet, even for a small appliance.

Tonite we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Toaster, who is due tomorrow. Today I was suffering from the out-and-out throes of Toaster Withdrawal, but it’s only one more day.

What did Toaster think of Sarah Palin declaring Bwana to be Evil?

The new toaster has already arrived, thank God. A life without Toast is like a life without sunshine. I had no idea Toast Withdrawal could be so painful.

Here is a picture of the new member of the family:

Is the Chez Bwana family getting Spring Fever as I am? I can imagine Toaster waiting breathlessly for the baseball season.
